I heart Giggleberry

Today, we were supposed to go to the Franklin Mineral Museum in Sussex County, NJ but we decided not to. Instead, we asked Dominic to make the plans and before long we were headed to Peddler's Village in Lahaska, PA for some giggling at Giggleberry. It's a great place! We all loved it!

Ocean City, MD

We drove from Williamsburg, VA - over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel (where we had a bite to eat and bought a sticker) - to Ocean City, MD to meet the La Rosa's.

We stayed in a campground on Dewey Beach, DE and had a great time at the beach and boardwalk with the La Rosa clan - altogether this was 12 people (4 adults and 8 kids).

John and I rode the Tidal Wave, Liz took the boys on the ferris wheel and we smashed crabs with mallets - all told the trip was a great success!

After three days, we headed north to NJ where we are currently staying with my parents. From here we will tour some NJ / NY highlights! Stay tuned!

Jamestown - Scotland Ferry

Jamestown - Scotland Ferry

While we were touring Jamestown, we noticed several ferries crossing the inlet. I looked it up today and found out it was FREE!!! We love FREE!!! But what was on the other side??? Well, we boarded the ferry - and the kids LOVED IT! Quite honestly it was very cool - there we were - truck and all. In fact, we could have brought "the beast" along if we wanted to!
On the other side is Surrey, VA. We noticed signs for Chippooke State Park (or Chipmonk as the kids insisted it was called), and followed them.

The park was awesome - with a petting zoo, farm museum, campground, visitors center and beach. We picnic'd on the cliff and then took a path down to the beach to play on the shore for a while.

It was a great surprise of a day and I hope to have many more days like this one!

I should also note that all this car time has led to many enlightening conversations with the kids. Dominic is adamant that he will remain single - but he has decided he would like to adopt a son. Several days later, he announced that he and his son would live in his Ford truck. I guess there is such a thing as a "gypsy gene". :)

Jamestown, VA

Today we toured Jamestown. It was fabulous. I highly recommend the Junior Ranger program as it allows you to learn right along with your kids. Dominic and Blaise (aka Kim and Chris) both earned their first patches today. The whole sight was fascinating.
Afterwards, we had a picnic and then toured the island by car.

On the way home, we stopped at the Jamestown Pie Company and brought home a chocolate pecan pie for tonight's dinner - Delicious!!!

Chris made a campfire, we had a cookout and roasted marshmallows. It was a fabulous day!

Williamsburg, VA

We pulled into Outdoor World Campground in Williamsburg, VA around 4 pm yesterday. We plugged into one site and had no power. Chris determined the problem was at the pole. He walked all around the campground with his voltage meter to make sure the next site would have power. We then pulled into site B63 - and guess what.. no power!!!! He had already tested the site... now we knew it was our camper. Here come the gray clouds... and the muggy weather - no ac! Thankfully, Rick - the ranger here - helped us- and even got an electrician to come out to fix it for us.
For those of you keeping score at home, that's:
- One issue with identity theft leaving us with no access to our money in the bank
- Two sites without electric in Alabama in 102 temps
- One broken back window on the truck which required both replacement and tinting
- and one electrical repair here in VA

But we are having a good time seeing the sights - so let's hope things settle down soon.

Lexington, NC

After a detour thru a corporate park and a long stretch to a closed campgroud, we have finally arrived at High Rock Lake Marina and Campground in Lexington, NC. We have just discovered there are pigs downtown - or rather in Uptown Lexington as they call it... so we'll head out early tomorrow whole hog ;) and take some pigs - I mean pics - on our way to Williamsburg, VA. http://www.uptownlexington.com/Events/pigsinthecity.asp

Georgia Aquarium

The Georgia Aquarium was mind blowing - awesome - phenomenal! But the best part was sharing the day with one of my sorority sisters who I have not seen in (at the risk of dating myself) 18 yrs!!! Can it be! There we were - with our kids - the same two people - in a whole new realm! Amazing!

We all had a terrific time and would highly recommend a visit.
The kids manhandled the sting rays and bone head sharks for an eternity! Their high pitched squeals could have cracked the glass in the aquarium tube - thank goodness its made of acrylic!
